How to compress an image to 100 KB

You can use the compressor above without installing an app or creating an account. The target starts at 100 KB, and you can change it to another value whenever your upload form has a different limit.

  1. 1

    Choose your image

Select a JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC or HEIF image from your device. You can add up to 10 images to one batch.

  2. 2

Keep the target at 100 KB

The target size is set individually for each image. Choose JPG for broad compatibility or WebP when the website or form you are using accepts it. Adjust the maximum quality to suit the image.

  3. 3

    Review and download

Start compression, then check the actual output size and preview. Download the result only after confirming it meets the requirements of your upload form.

A few things to know about a 100 KB limit

100 KB is a target, not an exact-size promise

The compressor searches for a result that fits the target. Some detailed or very large images may not reach 100 KB without more quality or dimension loss. The result tells you whether the target was reached.

Choose the format your form accepts

JPG is widely accepted for photographs. WebP can be useful where it is supported. JPG does not keep transparent areas, so check the preview when converting graphics.

Check dimensions as well as file size

Some upload forms specify both a file-size limit and required pixel dimensions. A file below 100 KB may still be rejected when its dimensions do not match the form.

Your images stay in your browser

Compression runs locally on your device using a Web Worker. The image files you select are not uploaded to our server for processing.

100 KB image compressor: frequently asked questions

Will my image be exactly 100 KB?

No. 100 KB is the maximum target you are asking the compressor to reach, not a promise of an exact file size. It works towards that limit by adjusting quality and, when needed, image dimensions. Check the measured output size before using it.

Which image formats can I compress?

You can select JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and HEIF images. The compressor creates JPG or WebP output.

Can I compress more than one image to 100 KB?

Yes. Add up to 10 images in one batch. Each image has a 20 MB file limit, the combined batch limit is 50 MB, and each image must be within the 40 megapixel limit.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Image compression runs in your browser using a Web Worker. Your selected image files are processed on your device rather than uploaded to ImageCompressLab for compression.

What if the image cannot be reduced to 100 KB?

The result will indicate when the target could not be reached at the minimum quality setting. Try a less restrictive target if your form allows it, and always review the image before downloading or submitting it.
